There is still much to discover in the seabed of Île de Ré. Éric le Gall apnéiste found a wreck at the entrance of the Breton Pertuis. For two summers archaeological divers have been conducting an investigation to be able to give this ship a no, an approximate year of the shipwreck. The excavation campaigns which have taken place for two years allowed not to bring back to the open air many vestiges. All these discoveries are visible as they are recovered at the Ernest Cognac Museum in Saint Martin de Ré. Coins and a bell, unfortunately in pieces, are clues likely to date the sinking of this ship.According to archaeologists it would be a very well armed merchant ship, since 16 guns were found lying on the sand. The divers are looking for pieces of wood that would allow them to date, with accuracy thanks to carbon 14, a period corresponding to the construction of this boat “Le Studio“- Catherine Salez receives Éric le Gall - production Yves Morin - ré-télé
